Crystal McVay Shepard was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology; Eastern Kentucky University with a Masters of Science degree in Criminal Justice; and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. Crystal received her law degree in 2008.
Crystal is married and lives in Lexington with her husband and two children. She became partner at the firm in 2015 when the firm name became McVay Martin Shepard, PSC, Attorneys at Law. She practices primarily in the areas of family law, probate and real estate law. Her areas of practice include but are not limited to the following: divorce, custody, visitation, child support, domestic violence, post-decree issues, dependency neglect & abuse actions, adoptions, termination of parental rights, wills and estates, probate of estates, powers of attorney, living wills and guardianship matters.
Crystal is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Fayette County Bar Association. She is a referral attorney for the Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service. Crystal also volunteers as a Fayette County Bar Association Modest Means Attorney and as a referral attorney for Greenhouse 17, the domestic violence shelter. Crystal has been an instructor for continuing education seminars for the National Business Institute to other attorneys in her primary practice areas. Crystal also serves as a Hearing Officer for the Lexington Parking Authority, hearing cases that are disputed after a citation has been issued.
