Jennifer McVay Martin was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and a Minor in Spanish. Jennifer graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2003. She lives in Lexington with her husband and two children.

Jennifer was the founding member of the Law Office of Jennifer McVay Martin, PSC in 2003 which changed its name to McVay Martin Shepard, PSC in 2015.

Jennifer practices in the area of Family Law including: divorce, custody, paternity, visitation/timesharing, child support, domestic violence, dependency neglect & abuse actions, termination of parental rights and adoptions. Jennifer serves as Court-appointed counsel for parents and children in abuse and neglect Court in addition to her private cases and works closely with Greenhouse 17, the domestic violence shelter, to assist its residents and victims of domestic violence in their various cases.

Jennifer practices in Estate Law including, estate planning, Wills, some Trusts, Probate of Estate, Powers of Attorney, Living Will and Guardianship Matters.

Jennifer also practices Real Estate Law, including civil litigation, sales, title issues, foreclosure cases and Landlord Tenant Law. Jennifer has a Kentucky Real Estate Broker’s License and understands the issues surrounding residential property purchases and sales.

Jennifer is a frequent instructor for the National Business Institute in areas of Family Law (including ethical instruction to other attorneys) and Probate Law.
